Improves Accountability for Veterans' Funding

This bill directs a government official to investigate and report on funding shortages for veterans' services over the next five years.
VA Budget Shortfall Accountability Act This act requires the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to review and report on the circumstances and causes of the shortfall in funding of the Veterans Benefits Administration for FY2024 and the expected shortfall in funding of the Veterans Health Administration in FY2025. The Department of Veterans Affairs must submit such GAO report to Congress. For each of the five fiscal years following the date of enactment of this act, GAO must conduct subsequent reviews and reports regarding the funding of the VA.
1. The bill requires a review of funding shortfalls in the Veterans Benefits and Health Administrations. 2. The Comptroller General must report findings within 30 days after each review. 3. This process will happen annually for five years to track funding issues. 4. The Secretary of Veterans Affairs must share the findings with key congressional committees.
This bill affects veterans who rely on benefits and health services from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
