District of Columbia Federal Judicial Officials Residency Equality Act of 2025This bill requires U.S. district and circuit court judges, U.S. district court clerks, U.S. attorneys, and U.S. marshals who are appointed to serve in the District of Columbia to be residents of the District of Columbia.
1. This bill changes where certain federal officials must live. 2. Circuit judges and district judges can now live outside the District of Columbia. 3. United States attorneys must reside in their appointed district, with some exceptions. 4. United States marshals for specific districts can also live within 20 miles of their district. 5. The changes apply only to new appointments after the bill becomes law.
