Refugee Resettlement Control Bill
Official: No Resettlement Without Representation Act
This bill changes how the United States admits and resettles refugees by giving Congress and states more control over the process. It ensures that both the federal government and state leaders have a say in refugee admissions.
1. The President must recommend the number of refugees allowed each year before the fiscal year starts. 2. Congress must pass a resolution to set the refugee admission cap for that year. 3. States can reject the resettlement of refugees if their chief executive communicates opposition. 4. States will be notified 30 days before any refugee is resettled in their area. 5. No refugees can be placed in a state that does not agree to their resettlement.
