Capitol Grounds Memorial Events
Official: Authorizing the use of the Capitol Grounds for the National Peace Officers' Memorial Service and the National Honor Guard and Pipe Band Exhibition.
This resolution authorizes two public events on Capitol Grounds to honor law enforcement officers and showcase Honor Guard programs.
This concurrent resolution authorizes the National Fraternal Order of Police to sponsor two public events on Capitol grounds: the 45th Annual National Peace Officers Memorial Service (on May 15, 2026) and the National Honor Guard and Pipe Band Exhibition (on May 14, 2026). The concurrent resolution also authorizes the Speaker of the House and the Committee on Rules and Administration of the Senate to jointly designate alternate dates.
1. This resolution allows the National Fraternal Order of Police to hold a memorial service on Capitol Grounds. 2. The memorial service will honor law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty during 2025. 3. The National Honor Guard and Pipe Band Exhibition will also take place on Capitol Grounds. 4. Both events are scheduled for May 2026 and will be free and open to the public. 5. The sponsors are responsible for all costs and must follow specific rules set by Capitol authorities.
Law enforcement officers and their families, as well as the general public attending the events.
