This bill increases burial benefits for veterans and expands eligibility for headstones and markers provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Ensuring Veterans’ Final Resting Place Act of 2025This bill provides that the provision of an urn or commemorative plaque does not prohibit an individual from receiving a headstone or marker or other burial benefits (i. e., interment at a national cemetery) from the Department of Veterans Affairs. Under current law, individuals who request an urn or plaque do so in lieu of being furnished a headstone or burial benefit.
1. This bill expands eligibility for Department of Veterans Affairs headstones and markers to more individuals. 2. It allows additional burial benefits when an urn or plaque is provided for veterans. 3. The changes apply to individuals who die on or after January 5, 2021. 4. The bill extends certain payment limits for veterans' pensions until May 31, 2033.
