Local Law Enforcement Training Funding
Official: Strong Communities Act of 2025
This bill helps local police departments fund training for new recruits who promise to serve in their communities. It aims to strengthen local law enforcement by ensuring officers are from the areas they serve.
1. This bill allows grant money to help local police recruits pay for training programs. 2. Recruits must agree to work in their local communities after completing their training. 3. Officers must serve full-time for at least four years in their local area. 4. If recruits do not fulfill their service commitment, they must repay the training costs. 5. The Attorney General will report annually on how the grants are used.
