This bill allows the government to collect fees for new drilling permits for a longer time. This helps manage the process of drilling on public lands more effectively.
License to Drill Act This bill extends through FY2037 the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM’s) authority to collect oil and gas permit processing fees. For each new permit application, BLM collects a fee that is transferred to the BLM Permit Processing Improvement Fund. (Under current law, the fees are authorized through FY2026.)
1. This bill extends the time for collecting fees on new drilling permit applications. 2. The Secretary of the Interior will continue to charge these fees for a longer period. 3. It aims to ensure that the government can manage drilling applications effectively. 4. The bill is part of the Mineral Leasing Act, which governs drilling on public lands.
