This bill updates emergency management rules by removing old requirements and ensuring better reporting on spending during disasters. It aims to improve efficiency and save taxpayer money.
Detain and Deport Illegal Aliens Who Assault Cops Act This bill requires the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to take custody of any non-U.S. national (alien under federal law) who meets certain inadmissibility criteria and is arrested for, is charged with, is convicted of, or admits to assaulting a law enforcement officer, firefighter, or other first responder. Further, the bill requires DHS to take into custody certain criminal non-U.S. nationals. Currently, this responsibility belongs to the Department of Justice.
1. This bill removes outdated rules from the Post-Katrina Management Reform Act of 2006. 2. It requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to report on the impact of these changes. 3. The reports will focus on preventing waste and promoting savings for taxpayers. 4. The Secretary must provide details on contracts made without bids during emergencies. 5. These reports will be submitted annually for five years after the bill is enacted.
