Veterans Medical Facility Leasing Bill
Official: Leasing and Infrastructure Act of 2025
This bill gives the Secretary of Veterans Affairs the power to lease medical facilities without needing approval from another agency, which could speed up the process of providing care to veterans.
1. This bill allows the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to lease major medical facilities independently. 2. Leases can last up to 20 years and may require Congressional approval for extensions. 3. A new Veterans Leasing Fund will be created to manage funds for these leases. 4. The Secretary must provide accurate cost estimates for each facility before leasing. 5. If costs exceed estimates by more than ten percent, the Secretary must notify Congress.
