This bill would allow a memorial to honor women who worked on the home front during World War II to be placed on the National Mall. It highlights the important role these women played in supporting the military during a critical time in history.
World War II Women's Memorial Location Act This bill allows the commemorative work for women who worked on the home front during World War II to be located in either (1) the Reserve, an area that generally extends from the United States Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial, and from the White House to the Jefferson Memorial; or (2) the area just outside the Reserve, known as Area I. (This map shows the Reserve in red and Area I in yellow.)
1. This bill allows a memorial for women who supported the military during World War II to be built on the National Mall. 2. It recognizes the contributions of over 18 million women who worked in various roles to support the war effort. 3. The bill changes existing rules to permit this memorial in a prominent and respectful location. 4. It aims to honor the legacy of these women by placing the memorial in a significant area of Washington, D.C.
