Protection of Women in Sports Bill
Official: Protection of Women in Olympic and Amateur Sports Act of 2026
This bill sets clear definitions for male and female athletes and restricts male athletes from competing in female sports. It aims to protect the integrity of women's competitions in amateur sports.
Protection of Women in Olympic and Amateur Sports Act This bill requires certified national governing bodies (NGBs) of amateur sports (e. g., USA Gymnastics) to prohibit a person whose sex is male from participating in an amateur athletic competition that is designated for females, women, or girls. Under the bill, male means an individual who has, had, will have—or would have, but for a developmental or genetic anomaly or historical accident—the reproductive system that at some point produces, transports, and utilizes sperm for fertilization.
1. This bill defines 'female' and 'male' based on biological sex. 2. It states that only individuals identified as female can compete in women's sports. 3. The bill aims to ensure fair competition in amateur athletic events. 4. It modifies eligibility rules for amateur sports organizations. 5. The changes apply to competitions designated for females, women, or girls.
This bill affects female athletes and male athletes who wish to compete in women's sports.
