What changes is this bill making?
1Prohibits knowingly false statements about when, where, or how to vote or about voter eligibility within 60 days before a federal election
2Bans use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) systems to create or share such false voting information with intent to block voting
3Forbids anyone from hindering or preventing voting, voter registration, or aiding another person to vote, including setting up fake polling places
4Establishes a private right of action so individuals harmed by deceptive practices can sue for injunctions and recover attorney fees
5Strengthens criminal penalties under title 18 of the U.S. Code with fines and up to one year in prison for deceptive voting acts and for corruptly interfering with voting
6Requires the Attorney General to correct materially false election information if state or local officials fail to do so and to publish procedures for that corrective action within 180 days
7Directs the Justice Department to report to Congress after each general federal election on allegations of deceptive practices, investigations, and actions taken
