Why This Matters

This bill provides special tax rules for certain residents of Taiwan, reducing their tax rates on income earned from U.S. sources.

If you are a qualified resident of Taiwan, your tax rate on U.S. income could drop to as low as 10% starting in 2025.
Who this affects
residents of Taiwan
What changes is this bill making?
  1. 1This bill lowers the tax rate on certain income for qualified residents of Taiwan earning money in the United States.
  2. 2Interest, dividends, and royalties received by these residents will be taxed at a maximum rate of 10% or 15% for dividends under specific conditions.
  3. 3The bill excludes certain types of income, such as dividends from real estate investment trusts that do not meet specific criteria.
  4. 4It aims to encourage economic ties between the United States and Taiwan by making it financially easier for Taiwanese residents to invest in the U.S.
