Why This Matters

This resolution cancels the Environmental Protection Agency's rejection of Colorado's 2022 plan to cut haze-causing air pollution that blocks views in national parks and wilderness areas. Colorado's own plan would no longer stand formally rejected by the federal government.

If you visit places like Rocky Mountain, Mesa Verde, or Great Sand Dunes National Park, Colorado's own pollution-cutting plan for their views would no longer stand rejected by the federal government.
Who this affects
Colorado residents · National park visitors · Colorado power plants · Colorado air regulators
What does this resolution do?
  1. 1The Environmental Protection Agency rejected Colorado's 2022 plan in January 2026, saying it did not meet Clean Air Act haze requirements.
  2. 2Canceling the rejection removes the legal step that would start a federal clock for the Environmental Protection Agency to write its own haze plan for Colorado.
  3. 3Under the Congressional Review Act, the agency could not issue a substantially similar rejection of Colorado's plan later unless Congress allows it.
  4. 4Canceling the rejection does not automatically approve Colorado's plan; a separate Colorado update that combines older approved haze rules was left undecided by the rejection.
