JODEY C. ARRINGTON

Jodey C. Arrington was raised in West Texas and earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Texas Tech University as well as an International Business Management Certificate from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.

Jodey is married to Anne Meyer Arrington of New Orleans, who also served in the George W. Bush Administration and was appointed by the Speaker of the House to the Library of Congress, American Folklife Center Board. They are the proud parents of Nate (15), Jane (13), and Henry (11).

Prior to serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, Arrington built a distinguished career in both the public and private sectors. He served with President George W. Bush for ten years in both Austin and Washington as a senior advisor in the White House, Chief of Staff at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and Chief Operating Officer for the Gulf Coast rebuilding efforts following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Arrington returned to West Texas to serve as Vice Chancellor for the Texas Tech University System. Prior to being elected to Congress, Arrington served as president of a health care innovation company. Arrington is currently serving his fifth term in Congress representing the 19th District in the heart of West Texas.

Governor’s Office (1996-2000)

After finishing graduate school in 1996, Arrington spent four years as an advisor to then-Governor George W. Bush. He was responsible for placing individuals on governing statewide boards and commissions involved in education, healthcare, criminal justice, and agriculture.

White House (2000-2001)

After George W. Bush was elected president in 2000, Arrington joined the White House as Special Assistant to President Bush and Associate Director of Presidential Personnel. He worked closely with the Secretaries of Energy, Agriculture, Interior, and the EPA Administrator directly advising the President on appointments to more than 150 key positions across the federal government including 70 Senate-confirmed executives.

Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (2001-2005)

In late December 2001, at age 28, Arrington became the youngest Chief of Staff to the Chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). He managed the Offices of the Chairman, Policy Development, and Public Affairs helping run a 5,300-employee, $1 billion budget operation responsible for the regulation of 9,000 banks with over $3 trillion in deposits. Arrington played a key role in a major restructuring effort – consolidating four major divisions and reducing field offices from 160 to 80, which reduced annual operating expenses by $80 million. He worked on major legislative reforms including the passage of the Deposit Insurance Reform Act of 2005 as well as a financial literacy initiative that reached more than 300,000 consumers nationwide.

Gulf Coast Rebuilding (2005-2006)

In 2005, Arrington was appointed as the Deputy Federal Coordinator and Chief Operating Officer for the Office of Gulf Coast Rebuilding. The Office was established by Presidential Executive Order in the wake of the worst natural disaster at that time, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and reported to the White House. He worked with cabinet secretaries, governors, and local leaders to develop a multi-billion-dollar recovery plan, including $17 billion for housing and $8 billion for flood control.

Texas Tech University System (2007-2014)

From 2007 to 2014, Arrington served as Chief of Staff and Vice Chancellor for Research, Commercialization, and Federal Relations for the Texas Tech University System (TTUS). He was the chief architect of the system-wide strategic plan and oversaw its implementation, which drove record student enrollment, graduation rates, and research funding, along with revenue from intellectual property, university start-ups, and licensing agreements. As Chair of the Enrollment Task Force, Arrington’s leadership resulted in consecutive record freshman, graduate, and transfer student enrollments. He secured millions of dollars in research funding in areas such as cancer and renewable energy, along with the naming rights for the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health, which has since raised millions in grants and private donations.

Scott Laboratories (2014-2016)

In 2014, Arrington was hired as President of Scott Laboratories, a healthcare innovation company and parent company of Grace Health System. Under his leadership, Scott Labs successfully launched a telehealth startup and developed a digital marketing platform to expand patient outreach and engagement for the System.

U.S. House of Representatives (2017-Present)

Arrington currently serves as Chairman of the House Budget Committee as well as a member of the Ways and Means Committee, Tax and Trade Subcommittees, and the Joint Economic Committee. He was one of only four members appointed by Speaker Ryan to the Joint Select Committee on Budget Reforms and tapped by Speaker McCarthy to serve on the Select Committee on Economic Fairness and Growth.

Arrington was elected by his freshman class and then by the Texas Delegation to represent them on the powerful House GOP Steering Committee, responsible for selecting committee assignments and chairmanships. He was also asked by Tom Emmer, Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), to serve as his Deputy Chair for two terms, during which Arrington raised a record $18 million for their annual spring dinner event.

Arrington is one of the foremost leaders in economic and fiscal policy including major tax, trade, and budget reforms as well as major energy and health care legislation. He authored and led the successful passage of the “One Big Beautiful Bill” – the largest tax cut, entitlement reform, and national security investment in U.S. history.
