why i'm running for TX-10
I'm an Army veteran, problem solver in the private and public sector, and mom. My life and career have been rooted in service and problem-solving - in the military, in business, and in policy. I’m running for Congress because I believe Washington should work the same way: focused on getting things done for the families it serves, not putting on a show for the people who write the checks.
Texans deserve leaders who listen, lead with integrity, and put service over self. In Congress, I’ll go to work every day for the communities I represent - not political insiders, not party bosses, and not wealthy donors. I’ll answer to the families of this district.
Meet Caitlin: A Leader Built to Serve
Caitlin Rourk is a U.S. Army officer and mom running for Congress to bring principled, practical leadership to Washington. She's the Democratic nominee for Congressional District 10, which spans 13 counties across central and east Texas.
Raised by public school teachers and shaped by a family tradition of service, Caitlin’s roots run deep in American grit and perseverance. Her grandfathers served in World War II. After the war, they returned home to start their families and rebuild America’s infrastructure. Their stories of courage and service inspired Caitlin’s lifelong dedication to serving her country and her community.
Caitlin has lived, worked, and served in Central Texas for more than a decade. Her career spans the private sector, public policy, and both federal and military service. Early in her career, she worked across party lines to advance complex policy issues, from energy security to deficit reduction, collaborating with stakeholders on both sides of the aisle. Most recently, she worked at Dell Technologies, leading communication efforts for one of the area's largest employers.
Answering a lifelong call to serve
Answering a lifelong call to serve, Caitlin earned her commission as a Military Intelligence Officer through the U.S. Army Officer Candidate School. She served full time in the Texas Army National Guard at Joint Forces Headquarters in Austin, where she supported emergency responses to natural disasters, COVID-19, civil unrest operations, and multiple border mobilizations. She also served in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Caitlin holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Chicago and an MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. She and her husband Sasha, a volunteer EMT and medic who served in the Texas State Guard, are raising their two young children and three dogs in TX-10.
Caitlin is running for Congress because she believes our communities deserve leadership that puts service before politics: leadership that listens, works hard, and gets results.
Members of the U.S. House of Representatives write and vote on federal laws, including the federal budget. Each represents one district and serves a two-year term. Tax bills must start in the House, only the House can impeach federal officials, and members oversee federal agencies through their committees.
