About Gary Day

About Gary

Rep. Gary Day serves the people of the 187th Legislative District in Lehigh County, bringing a wealth of experience from both the public and private sectors.

A familiar face in Harrisburg, Gary previously represented the 187th District from 2008-22. During his tenure, he built a strong conservative voting record and passed key legislation benefiting homeowners and military personnel. As chairman of the House-Select Committee on School Safety, Gary led the most bipartisan committee in the state House, helping to pass laws that enhance school safety and protect children.

Gary also served as chairman of the House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee, where he worked tirelessly to safeguard seniors from fraud and abuse while ensuring continued funding for nursing homes. Additionally, he served on the House Appropriations Committee, focusing on fiscal responsibility and effective government spending.

Now back in office, Gary is committed to addressing the priorities of his constituents, including promoting economic growth, combating inflation, ensuring children's safety in schools, and protecting the freedoms of every resident.

Before his legislative career, Gary was the Director of Marketing and Human Resources for Service Electric Cablevision, a local cable and telecommunications company. He also served as executive assistant to the mayor of Allentown, Pennsylvania's third-largest city. Gary holds a bachelor's degree in economics with a minor in business from The Pennsylvania State University.

Gary is deeply involved in his community. He is a lifetime member of the Goodwill Fire Company No. 1 in Germansville, and previously coached for youth sports in softball, football and baseball. He is also a member of Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club and Greenleaf Lodge No. 561.

Previously, Gary served on the YMCA Board of Directors and the Upper Lehigh Lions Club, was a founding member of the Lehigh Valley Sportsfest, chairman of the Allentown Advancement Team and an executive committee member of the Allentown Economic Development Corporation, and a member of Lehigh Valley Land Recycling Committee.

Gary and his wife, Susan, reside in Heidelberg Township and have three children – Erynn, Samuel and Claudia. They are members of St. Joseph the Worker Church.

The 187th Legislative District includes Macungie and Alburtis boroughs, and the townships of Upper Macungie (in part), Lower Macungie, Weisenberg, Lynn, Heidelberg and Washington.
