Bio - Representative Mark Strong has represented the 47th House District in the Utah House of Representatives since 2019, covering parts of Bluffdale, Riverton, and Draper.
Growing up in a military family, with his father serving in the Air Force, Representative Strong developed a deep appreciation for freedom. His experiences living on military bases both in the U.S. and overseas, including witnessing the contrast between communism in East Berlin and freedom in West Berlin, shaped his commitment to service and preserving freedom. Frustrations with contemporary politics, particularly at the federal level, motivated him to engage in public service through the Utah Legislature.
After completing a full-time mission in Minnesota, Representative Strong pursued a degree in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations at BYU. There, he met his wife, Cindy, who was completing her teaching degree. They have since made Utah their home and are proud parents to six children. As a family, they enjoy exploring Utah's National and State Parks, international travel, as well, and the broadening experience of learning about other people, cultures, and histories.
State representatives serve in their state's lower legislative chamber. Responsibilities include drafting and voting on state laws, representing their district's interests in the state capitol, serving on state committees, and shaping the state budget. State legislation covers areas like education, healthcare, transportation, criminal justice, and local taxation that directly affect residents' daily lives.
