Gail "Missy" Armstrong was born in Socorro, NM and raised in both Socorro and Catron Counties. She is a lifelong resident of the area. Before being appointed to the House of Representatives to represent District 49, Gail served her community in many ways over the years. She has strong roots and a deep love for the communities she serves.

As a businesswoman, rancher, mother, and wife, Gail is focused on preserving Catron, Socorro, and Valencia counties.

State Representative Gail Armstrong came from humble beginnings in the rural ranching community of Datil, NM. Faith, family, hard work, and integrity are the core values she learned and reflects today. Gail is no stranger to demanding work, serving her community, and addressing unique challenges that threaten this way of life. Her unwavering passion for her community, her ability to have a vision for a brighter future, and her love for the region represent her ongoing dedication to protect the western way of life.

Gail is deeply rooted in her love for family. In 1984, Gail married Dale Armstrong, and together they raised four thriving children and are proud grandparents of thirteen glorious grandchildren. Gail is additionally a champion of business in New Mexico. Since founding their business in 1987, Dale and Gail have been strong advocates fighting for the local business community. Since their first business, they have expanded their business and created several other businesses across the state of New Mexico. They share a focus of removing barriers for workforce development and providing more opportunities to build a better New Mexico for future generations.

She prioritizes getting important work done while serving five terms equaling 10 years in the House of Representatives. This last legislative session her colleagues place their trust in her as the very first female House Minority Leader. Her focus primarily has been on water, farming, ranching, economic development, education, health, and public safety. Gail is known for her fairness, grit, honesty, grace, and a relentless advocate for what is right, always putting her constituents' needs first. Gail is a genuine example of what it means to be New Mexico true and will always fight for what is best for New Mexico's future.
