About The Campaign
Brad Meyer is running for Congress to get things done for working people. He did not plan on a career in politics, but he walked away from a secure retirement because he could not ignore the direction this country is headed. After 17 town halls and 5 roundtables, he has heard the same thing: people are not just worried about one issue, they are losing sleep over everything.
He sees young people starting out behind and workers in their prime still struggling to find solid ground and a path to a secure retirement. These problems are not accidents. They are the result of deliberate policy choices that have shifted power and wealth to the top while working families fall further behind.
Brad supports Medicare for All because no one should have to go broke just trying to stay alive. He is fighting for higher wages, fair taxes, and restoring the collective bargaining power that built the middle class.
He is focused on making it possible to buy a first home again, lowering the cost of education, and creating an immigration system that works and respects the dignity of work. He is running to deliver real change with the courage to act.
Why I’m Running for Congress
In 2010, my family and I moved to Bloomington to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane. Six years later, I was hired as a Navy civilian engineer and spent nine years working in electromagnetic warfare, a critical role protecting our sailors from missile threats. It was meaningful, and I was proud of the mission and the team.
As part of that work, I swore an oath to defend the Constitution. When Donald Trump and his allies took office, it became clear they were not guided by that same commitment. I saw actions that represented an outright betrayal of the public trust and the common purpose that binds us, actions that have damaged the fabric of our communities:
Spreading anger and division into the hearts of neighbors and families.
Pushing policies that will leave young Americans with fewer opportunities.
Singling out people as “other” and hardening our hearts against them.
These actions violate a core American value: our shared commitment to one another and common purpose. We are neighbors, not enemies. This is the moment when we must stand together. We have always pulled together when it really counted. It counts now.
My Hoosier Background
I am a proud seventh-generation Hoosier, born and raised with roots deep in Indiana’s soil. I grew up in Brownsburg. I have seen the strength of our communities and understand the real challenges and hard-won opportunities facing families across our district.
I married my high school sweetheart at 18, committed to building our future together. We attended Purdue together. I studied electronics engineering, and she studied veterinary technology. Those early years, working our way through school, taught us the meaning of hard work, shared sacrifice, and working together to build a future.
After graduation, we began our careers and started our family. I spent 25 years in local manufacturing, working in everything from sensor and electronics assembly to machining, heat treat, and plating. I know what it feels like to push for production goals, work mandatory overtime, and lie awake worrying when rumors of layoffs start spreading.
My first job was at a company owned by a man named Bill Janicki. He modeled responsible leadership for me. He understood that workers create the value and he shared that value with them. That lesson stayed with me throughout my career.
Over the years, I served in management roles, which gave me the perspective of both sides of business. Part of what shaped my values as a Democrat is knowing that not every owner is like Mr. Janicki. I have seen workplaces where leadership tried to squeeze every dime from employees instead of treating them as partners in success and value creation.
Fighting for Indiana
Winning elections is how we begin to repair the damage and build the future we need. Together, we can restore stability and rebuild what has been broken. It will take hard work, but we can:
restore the stability that holds us together,
repair the damage that has been done,
and summon a future worthy of every Hoosier.
But I can’t do it alone. I am asking for your energy, your vote, and your support. With your help, when I am in Congress, I will fight to protect our future.
Members of the U.S. House of Representatives write and vote on federal laws, including the federal budget. Each represents one district and serves a two-year term. Tax bills must start in the House, only the House can impeach federal officials, and members oversee federal agencies through their committees.
