About Chuck Gray

Meet Chuck

A Proven America-First Conservative

Chuck Gray is a proven America First conservative with a consistent record of defending Wyoming values and standing with President Donald Trump and the MAGA movement. Raised with a deep respect for America, Chuck believes public office is a trust—not a privilege—and that elected officials are accountable to the people they serve.

Before becoming Wyoming's Secretary of State, Chuck served six years in the Wyoming House of Representatives. During his time in the legislature, he earned a reputation for preparation, independence, and principled conservatism. He was known for asking tough questions, refusing to bow to political pressure, and consistently standing up for Wyoming citizens rather than special interests or outside agendas.

Chuck was the lead sponsor of Wyoming's landmark voter ID law passed in 2021, a critical step in strengthening election integrity and restoring confidence in the electoral process. Earlier, in his first year in office, he authored and passed Wyoming's ultrasound bill in 2017, the first pro-life legislation to pass the Wyoming Legislature in 30 years. For his work protecting life and families, Chuck received Wyoming Right to Life's Platinum Award, the organization's highest honor.

A fierce defender of Wyoming's energy economy, Chuck has consistently fought to protect coal, oil, and gas jobs from coastal elites and radical environmental activists. In 2019, he led the effort to pass legislation forcing the Wyoming Attorney General to defend Wyoming's coal export rights after Washington State attempted to block access to key export terminals. That fight helped protect thousands of Wyoming jobs and sent a clear message that Wyoming would not surrender its economy to out-of-state interests.

In 2022, Chuck ran for Secretary of State to turn election integrity from rhetoric into results. As Wyoming's chief election official—an office that also serves as Lieutenant Governor—Chuck moved quickly to secure Wyoming elections. Under his leadership, Wyoming became the first state in the nation to require proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote, setting a national standard for election security. He also led efforts to ban ranked-choice voting, ban foreign funding of elections, and stop third-party interference in Wyoming's electoral process.

When left-wing activist groups and attorney Marc Elias sued to block these reforms, Chuck successfully defended Wyoming's laws in court. His office also strengthened voter roll maintenance and partnered with the Trump Administration to ensure that only eligible voters appear on Wyoming's voter rolls.

Chuck has been a national leader in defending President Trump against lawfare attacks. In 2023, when radical activists attempted to remove President Trump from the ballot, Chuck stood strong and fought back—filing an amicus brief before the Colorado Supreme Court and becoming the only Secretary of State in the nation to file an amicus brief at the United States Supreme Court explicitly supporting President Trump.

Beyond elections, Chuck has taken Wyoming's priorities to the national stage. As Wyoming's chief securities official, he has advanced anti-ESG enforcement rules to protect Wyoming industries and push back against the radical Left's woke financial agenda.

Chuck's record has earned recognition from leading conservative organizations, including multiple CPAC awards; the Wyoming Right to Life Platinum Award for his work on family, faith, and life-related policies; and the Club for Growth's Defender of Economic Freedom Award. Guided by his Christian faith, Chuck Gray continues to fight to keep Wyoming free, conservative, and strong—leading with conviction, not convenience, and always following through for the people of Wyoming.
