Meet Angie Nixon
Angie Nixon is a Florida State Representative, union organizer, and mother born and raised in Jacksonville who has spent her career fighting for hardworking Floridians. In the State House, she expanded childcare, took on corporate price-gouging, and led the fight against DeSantis’s unfair voting maps. Her leadership is rooted in lived experience—watching her mom work two jobs to get by, attending public schools, and losing her cousin to gun violence. Angie is running to lower costs, raise wages, and build a people-powered government that puts families first—not greedy billionaires.
Meet Angie
Angie Nixon is a Democratic State Representative, union organizer, mother, and proven fighter born and raised in Jacksonville. In the State House, Angie has been a leading champion for working and middle class Floridians—from expanding childcare for thousands of families; to stopping a major grocery chain from gouging their prices; to leading the resistance to DeSantis’s unfair voting maps.
Angie’s pathbreaking leadership includes serving as Executive Director of Florida for All, a statewide coalition that has registered tens of thousands of new voters while raising resources for campaigns and issue-based organizing across the state. At home in Jacksonville, she runs a bookstore and community hub focused on bringing healthy food and educational opportunities to local families.
Angie’s leadership is rooted in her upbringing. She saw her mother work two jobs to make sure she and her brother never went hungry. Throughout elementary school, she was bused across town because her predominantly Black neighborhood school didn’t have adequate resources. Later, she tragically lost her favorite cousin to gun violence.
With our state’s rich resources, we all deserve to thrive. Angie is fighting for better opportunities for our children. For lower costs and higher wages. For a government that stands up to corrupt billionaires and corporate greed—while opening the door to the people. For the heart and soul of our country.
The Nixon Record: Built from the Ground Up
Angie Nixon did not rise through political machines or party gatekeepers. She built power in her community. From founding the Melanin Market to support local creators, to opening Natalie’s Nook to fight food insecurity, her work reflects a simple principle:
Start with people.
Stay with people.
Deliver for people.
State representatives write and vote on state laws and the state budget. Each represents a district in the legislature's lower chamber, which is called the House, the Assembly, or the House of Delegates depending on the state. Most serve two-year terms.
