About Angel Oakley

About Angel Oakley

We are living through an era of deep national division, driven by a political system that often rewards fighting over fixing. Millions of Illinoisans feel underrepresented by politicians who prioritize party loyalty over the people they were elected to serve. Angel Oakley is running for Congress to change that. She isn't a career politician looking for a fight; she is a mother, an entrepreneur, a former village official, and a dedicated community leader who believes Washington has too many "deal-makers" and not enough visionary problem solvers. Angel is a conservative moderate who leads with American values, love, and compassion—seeking to bring people together around common-sense solutions.

A Career Built on Leadership & Local Service

Angel’s deep ties to the Chicagoland suburbs span over 30 years of active community service. She understands the struggles of everyday families because she’s lived them. Coming from meager means, Angel worked full-time to pay her way through school, eventually graduating summa cum laude from Judson University with a B.A. in Management and Leadership with minors in Management Information Systems and International Business. She returned to pursue a Master’s in Organizational Leadership with a focus on servant leadership.

The Entrepreneurial Spirit

As the owner of a successful marketing and communications firm, Angel has partnered with hundreds of small to mid-sized businesses and non-profits, as well as several large businesses right here in the 3rd District, earning the "Innovator’s Award" from local Chambers of Commerce. She served on two chamber boards and spent several years engaged in the tech start-up community. She's a fierce advocate for Main Street USA (a.k.a. small businesses).

Proven Governance

As a former Winfield Village Trustee, Angel built a solid reputation for building consensus, cutting through gridlock, and finding realistic, fiscally responsible compromises, without compromising her core principles. She also served on the Village Communications Commission.

Citizen Diplomacy & Education

Angel’s journey began in the 90's as a young U.S. Ambassador in Germany through the prestigious Congress-Bundestag Program, teaching her to view complex issues through multiple lenses. She has spent decades coaching and mentoring youth through church youth groups (counselor and teacher), non-profits (Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor), public schools (First Robotics coach), homeschool co-ops (creative writing, journalism, entrepreneurship, environmental science, and biomimicry teacher), and advocating for student-centered education that prioritizes strong parental involvement, ensuring children have the environment they need to thrive.

A Vision for a Healthy, Prosperous America

Angel is a fiscal conservative who believes true prosperity comes from a free-market economy that empowers small businesses and keeps taxes low. However, she breaks the traditional political mold by championing a holistic vision for the health and self-sufficiency of our communities:

Restoring Our Health & Environment

Motivated by 21 years of personal study into human biology and health advocacy, Angel recognizes that "we cannot medicate ourselves to wellness." She is fiercely committed to addressing the chronic disease epidemic by pushing for policies that clean up toxic pollution in our air, soil, and water, while pushing back against the overreach of corporate pharmaceutical capture.

Protecting Families & Civil Liberties

Married for 25 years and a mother of three, Angel is a staunch defender of bodily autonomy and the constitutional right to free speech. She advocates for decentralized, localized control over schools, energy, and food production, including grassroots permaculture initiatives to foster local food security.

A Participative, Transparent Government

Angel envisions a government centered on the electorate, not political elites. She champions safe and accessible voting, transparent policymaking, strict fiscal responsibility to cut inflation, and sensible immigration reform to secure our borders while strengthening the nation.
