Her passion for service is rooted in faith, shaped by lived experience, and guided by a deep belief that our government should reflect the needs and potential of the people it serves.

LaKesha is running for Congress because North Carolina’s 14th District deserves a representative who shows up, pays attention, and leads with integrity. Meet your Democratic candidate for North Carolina’s 14th Congressional District, LaKesha Womack

A Story Rooted in Service, Shaped by Community, and Driven by Purpose

LaKesha Womack is the Democratic nominee for the United States House of Representatives in North Carolina’s 14th Congressional District. A strategist, entrepreneur, and community leader, she has spent more than two decades helping individuals, businesses, and organizations grow stronger through leadership development, economic opportunity, and community partnership.

LaKesha’s journey to public service began in the small rural town of Evergreen, Alabama, where community was not just a word but a way of life. Growing up in a place where her mother encouraged her to dream beyond her circumstances, she learned early the importance of service, responsibility, and education.

Her passion for civic leadership first took shape in high school through the Alabama Youth Legislature Program, where she experienced firsthand how policymaking affects everyday people. That experience sparked a lifelong commitment to understanding the systems that shape our communities and advocating for policies that expand opportunity.

LaKesha later attended the Alabama School of Math and Science, a public residential high school that brought together students from across the state. There she saw the transformative power of public education and the importance of ensuring that every child, regardless of zip code, has access to opportunity.

She continued that journey at Vanderbilt University, where she earned a degree in Political Science. Today, she is further strengthening her policy and legal knowledge by pursuing a Master of Legal Studies at Vanderbilt Law School.

While her academic journey deepened her understanding of public systems, LaKesha’s work has always remained grounded in real-world impact.

As the founder of Womack Consulting Group, she has spent more than twenty years helping small businesses, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and community leaders develop strategic plans, strengthen leadership, and build sustainable organizations. Her consulting work has supported entrepreneurs, guided organizations through major transitions, and helped leaders turn ideas into measurable impact.

For the past three years, LaKesha has also served as a consultant with American Baptist Home Mission Societies and Judson Press, where she has helped develop storytelling strategies to support global missions and elevate the voices of faith leaders working in communities worldwide.

LaKesha currently serves as Chief Strategy Officer for ASPIRE Community Capital, an emerging Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) dedicated to expanding economic opportunity for undercapitalized entrepreneurs. In this role, she helps design programs, partnerships, and financial pathways that allow small businesses to access the capital and resources they need to grow. Her leadership in financial inclusion earned her recognition as the 2025 Southeast Women in Fintech Champion.

Her work also reflects a deep commitment to faith and community transformation. Through her leadership in ministry initiatives and media platforms, including The Politics of Jesus Podcast, LaKesha works with faith leaders and organizations across the country to explore the intersection of faith, justice, and public life.

Beyond her professional work, LaKesha has served on numerous boards and civic initiatives focused on economic development, community engagement, and environmental stewardship. Her service includes roles with Friends of Keep Charlotte Beautiful, Interfaith Action for Human Rights, the Charlotte Business Inclusion Advisory Committee, and several national leadership and fellowship programs.

Throughout every stage of her career, one belief has remained constant: LaKesha believes deeply in the potential of people and communities.

She believes in the entrepreneur building a business from an idea.

She believes in families working hard to create stability and opportunity.

She believes in students who deserve access to quality education.

She believes in communities that deserve investment, respect, and a voice in the decisions that affect their lives.

That belief is what led her to run for Congress.

As the Democratic nominee for North Carolina’s 14th Congressional District, LaKesha is committed to bringing the lived experiences of working families, entrepreneurs, and community leaders to Washington. Her campaign is focused on expanding economic opportunity, addressing affordability, strengthening education, and ensuring that government works for the people it serves.

Her campaign is guided by a simple promise:

Listening to you.

Learning from you.

Leading for you in Congress.

LaKesha Womack is ready to serve North Carolina’s 14th District with integrity, courage, and a lifelong commitment to community.
