About Chris Backemeyer

Meet Chris

Chris was born and raised in Lincoln, miles from where his great-great-grandparents homesteaded their family farms in Cass County. A graduate of Lincoln East High School, Chris learned from an early age that hard work isn’t optional, neighbors look out for each other, and community is everything.

Nebraska Values

Chris grew up on Nebraska values, served his country at the highest levels, and is running for Congress to fight for families, lower costs, and build a better future for all. It’s time for leaders who work as hard as the people they serve.

Where I stand

With an extensive background in national security serving at some of the highest levels in our government, I’ve focused my career on solving problems and advancing policy priorities. I’ve sat in the Situation Room as tough decisions were made. I’ve brokered bipartisan legislation, briefed presidents and cabinet members, and confronted adversaries like China, Russia, and Iran.

Bottom line: I get things done — and I’ll bring that same focus to Nebraska’s First District.
