MEET CHUONG VO
I'm Chuong Vo:
husband, dad, former Mayor of Cerritos, and a 28-year law-enforcement officer. I planned my retirement around spending more time with my son through his last years of high school. Since then, crime rose, costs climbed, and politics got meaner and less honest.
I 've always been a problem solver which is why friends and community leaders asked me to step up. I said yes because service is what I know and am passionate about.
On the Council and as Mayor, I focused on safe neighborhoods, responsive city services, and fiscal responsibility. I've also served on the California Joint Powers Insurance Authority's executive board, one of the state's largest risk-management pools, so I understand complex budgets, liability, and how to protect taxpayers.
I've always kept my integrity. When contributions came in after a council election, I returned them, and made my decisions based on what I believed was right for the community. I'll take the same approach to congress. That's why I support holding Congress accountable including ending insider stock trading once and for all.
My wife Traci, who is a classroom teacher, and I are blessed with two kids and like so many immigrant families, I'm grateful to a country that gave my family a chance, and I want to help keep that promise alive for the next generation.
Members of the U.S. House of Representatives write and vote on federal laws, including the federal budget. Each represents one district and serves a two-year term. Tax bills must start in the House, only the House can impeach federal officials, and members oversee federal agencies through their committees.
