My Story
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, I learned early the value of community, hard work, and standing up for what's right. My parents instilled in me a deep sense of responsibility to serve others and to never forget where I came from. In 1995, I made Florida my home, and since 2002, Polk County has been where I've built my life, my career, and my community connections. Over the past two decades, I've dedicated myself to education—teaching, mentoring, and advocating for students and families who need a voice. My journey has taken me from the classroom to community boardrooms, where I've served on the Board of the Boys & Girls Club of Lakeland, sponsored the AGB Museum of Art, and volunteered countless hours with kidsPACK, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, and Polk County Schools. Now, I'm stepping up to serve on an even greater level. As your candidate for U.S. Congress, District 18, I'm committed to bringing the same dedication, compassion, and tireless work ethic that has defined my career in education to the halls of Congress. A Heart for People and a Voice for Change.
Members of the U.S. House of Representatives write and vote on federal laws, including the federal budget. Each represents one district and serves a two-year term. Tax bills must start in the House, only the House can impeach federal officials, and members oversee federal agencies through their committees.
