Meet Mike Carey

Mike Carey Congressman Mike Carey proudly represents Ohio’s 15th Congressional District, which now includes all of Highland, Fayette, Madison, and Pickaway counties, as well as parts of Clark, Franklin, and Miami counties.During his first year in office, Mike quickly distinguished himself as an effective member and was appointed to serve on the prestigious House Committee on Ways and Means as well as the Committee on House Administration.

Additionally, Mike serves as Chairman of the House Communications Standards Commission, Deputy Majority Whip and as NRCC Chair for Operations and Reform.

Born in 1971, Mike’s early years were spent in inner city Cincinnati, where he was raised by a single mother. At the age of 10, his family grew and moved to rural Sabina, Ohio. On the family farm, he was instilled with values that continue to guide him today – hard work, community, and freedom. After high school, he followed his family tradition of service by earning a ROTC scholarship, attending the Marion Military Institute, and serving as an officer in the military. During this time, he also earned his bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University.

As a professional, Mike became an executive for one of the nation’s largest privately owned energy companies, headquartered in Ohio. For more than 20 years, he worked to protect American jobs by advocating for American energy independence and fighting against failed energy policies that drove higher prices and weakened America. Mike also worked to save coal miner’s pension benefits, keeping the American Dream alive for thousands of families.

Mike is a man of faith and family. A father of three, he resides in Columbus with his wife Meghan and their two young sons. His oldest son is a senior at Ohio State University.
