About David Rouzer

Meet David

With an extensive background in public policy and a wide range of experience, David Rouzer quickly distinguished himself as a skilled Member of Congress representing North Carolina’s 7th Congressional District, which is home to a significant portion of the country’s agricultural production, and some of the most beautiful beaches and coastal communities in America.

He is considered one of the most effective conservative Members of Congress and has earned the Award for Excellence from the well-established and highly regarded American Conservative Union. David is also “A rated” by the National Rifle Association, has a 100% rating from National Right to Life, and is endorsed by the National Federation of Independent Businesses among many others.

Before he was even sworn in as a freshman Member of Congress, David landed the chairmanship of the Subcommittee on Livestock and Foreign Agriculture, earning the rare distinction as one of the very few in the history of the House Agriculture Committee to hold a gavel on day one.

As a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit, he has proven himself to be a strong advocate for our interstate and highway infrastructure needs.

David has also proven to be a great champion for our veterans, and his voting record is testament to his commitment to ensuring that our military has the resources necessary to protect America at home and abroad. Understanding the needs of small businesses and what it takes to create jobs, he has worked hard to push back against rules and regulations, which cost the national economy close to $2 trillion annually.

David is a founding member of the Congressional Coastal Communities Caucus, a bi-partisan group of members working to address issues unique to those living in coastal communities around the country. The economic health and quality of life in these environments are directly connected to the state of the shoreline and water, a fact too often overlooked and ignored. Due to David’s concern about the lack of access to primary care, he is also a founding member of the Primary Care Caucus to help address the healthcare needs of rural communities.

Prior to being elected to Congress in 2014, David had been involved in public policy creation and implementation and legislative strategy for more than a decade. He worked with U.S. Senators Jesse Helms and Elizabeth Dole, at NC State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and at USDA Rural Development during the administration of President George W. Bush. In addition to his work in the private sector as a business consultant, David Rouzer also served two terms in the NC Senate, where he was consistently ranked as one of the Legislature’s most effective pro-business members.
