Meet Your Congresswoman
Debbie Wasserman Schultz
Democrat Debbie Wasserman Schultz has spent her entire career fighting for Broward County to protect Social Security and Medicare, defend reproductive freedom, strengthen public schools, lower healthcare costs, prevent gun violence and fighting the reckless Trump agenda. Debbie has championed affordable healthcare, women’s health, veterans, seniors, and our environment. As Florida’s senior Congresswoman and a breast cancer survivor, she’s turned her own experiences into landmark laws that protect children, support survivors, and expand access to life-saving cancer screenings for minority populations and underserved communities. As a senior appropriator and member of Democratic leadership, Debbie has brought home billions of dollars for South Florida – from Everglades restoration, infrastructure improvements, community health centers, veterans’ housing and healthcare, non-profit security grants, and the well-paying jobs that come with those projects.
Members of the U.S. House of Representatives write and vote on federal laws, including the federal budget. Each represents one district and serves a two-year term. Tax bills must start in the House, only the House can impeach federal officials, and members oversee federal agencies through their committees.
