About Jefferson Shreve

Biography

Jefferson Shreve represents Indiana’s 6th Congressional District. Prior to his election to the 119th Congress, Mr. Shreve built his career in business. Shreve founded a real estate company — Storage Express. After three decades of growth across a half dozen states, he merged his company into a national firm that trades on the New York Stock Exchange. Mr. Shreve served on the board of Extra Space, an S&P 500 company.

Shreve co-owned a software business, e-Tracker. He similarly grew and sold that to a public company. Mr. Shreve invested as an operating partner in oil and gas wells in the Illinois basin for a dozen years. He invested in farm and ranch land for several years.

Now in Congress, Representative Shreve serves on the House Appropriations Committee. He serves on three Congressional subcommittees. And he represents the Indiana and Kentucky region delegation on the Republican Policy Committee.

Rep. Shreve’s legislative priorities center on leveraging his business experience to advance policy that encourages economic development — in his district and our nation. He’s focused on reining in federal spending, toward getting our nation’s growing debt crisis under control. And he’s working to advance our border security, and safeguard conservative Hoosier values.

Jefferson graduated from Indiana University. He earned his master's degree in international studies & diplomacy from the University of London. And he graduated from Purdue University, with an MBA in agribusiness.

He’s volunteered two decades of higher ed leadership. He was elected national chairman of the Indiana University Alumni Association. He serves on his alma mater’s Executive Dean’s board for the College of Arts & Sciences. And he serves on the IU Indianapolis Chancellor’s Board.

Mr. Shreve volunteered his business experience on the executive committee of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce board. He also served on the executive committee of a regional hospital system board.

Mr. Shreve served two terms on the City-County Council of his hometown of Indianapolis. A lifelong Hoosier, Jefferson and his wife Mary continue to call Indy’s Southside their home.
