About Ron Estes

Our Kansas Champion

Congressman Ron Estes is a fifth-generation Kansan representing the state's Fourth District in the U.S. House of Representatives. A champion for tax reform, free and fair trade, retirement security and lowering the price of health care, he serves on the influential House Committee on Ways and Means.

Since being elected to Congress, Ron has proven to be a national leader. He has helped pass landmark tax reform, rolled back burdensome regulations, fought to increase support for veterans and our military, and defended Wichita's aviation industry. He has championed pro-life policies including the Title X Protect Life Rule that has diverted tax dollars from abortion providers, including $60 million annually to Planned Parenthood. As a member of the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement leadership whip team, he has also helped lead efforts to secure the USMCA trade deal vital for agriculture and manufacturing in Kansas and throughout the country.

In addition to his service in Congress, Ron Estes has a history of engineering conservative change. After graduating with a degree in civil engineering and a graduate degree in business administration, Ron went to work improving business processes for manufacturing industries including energy and aviation.

Ron first applied his private sector business experience in public service as Sedgwick County Treasurer, elected in 2004. During the six years he served in that position, he implemented efficiencies that returned over $1.5 million to the taxpayers. In 2010, Ron was elected Kansas State Treasurer, overseeing more than $24 billion in public funds and enacting important reforms to pension programs, all while continuing to come in under budget. This experience has set Ron apart, as he remains the only former state treasurer and one of only several engineers in the House of Representatives.

Outside organizations have recognized the excellent work Ron has done since joining Congress. He is a recipient of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce 'Spirit of Enterprise' award for his support of small and local businesses, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association 'Freedom to Fly' award for his support of general aviation, the American Conservative Union 'Award for Conservative Excellence,' and received the highest score in the Kansas delegation for championing conservative policy from the Heritage Foundation.

Expanding upon his special election victory to replace former Rep. Mike Pompeo, Ron was the only Congressional candidate in Kansas who carried every county in his district on his way to a decisive re-election in 2018. As a member of the National Republican Congressional Committee Executive Board, Ron has remained a proven conservative champion who has also helped elect other Republicans up and down the ballot.

Ron, his wife Susan, and their three children live in Wichita where he returns home each week.
